Sisterhood

Shalom and Welcome!

Dear Friends,

As Co-Presidents of the Sisterhood at Congregation Shaar Hashalom, we warmly welcome you to our vibrant community.

The Sisterhood is open to all Jewish women—whether you're a member of the synagogue or not—and is proudly affiliated with the Women’s League for Conservative Judaism. We are a group of women who come together to connect, celebrate Judaism, support the synagogue, and have fun along the way!

What We Do:

  • Host Meaningful Events: From holiday celebrations like our popular Family Hanukkah Evening and Yom Kippur Break Fast, to educational programs and speaker events.
  • Support Our Community: We’ve funded many important synagogue upgrades over the years, including sanctuary chairs, kitchen equipment, office supplies, and more.
  • Run the Judaica Shop: A lovely selection of items for holidays, lifecycle events, and everyday Jewish living.
  • Champion Lifelong Learning & Friendship: Sisterhood is a place to grow Jewishly, make new friends, reconnect with old ones, and explore what Judaism means to you.

Join Us!

We hope you’ll consider becoming part of our sisterhood. Membership dues are:

  • $20 for your first year
  • $36/year for synagogue members thereafter
  • $40/year for non-membersBeing part of Sisterhood is about so much more than events—it's about connection, community, and celebrating who we are as Jewish women.

If you’d like to learn more or join, please contact Sheilla Goldberg at 281-798-4297 or email us at sheillagoldberg@gmail.com.

We look forward to welcoming you soon!

With warmth and friendship,

Sheilla Goldberg, Co-President

Apple Strudel

During one of our Challah Club meetings, Cantor Laurie generously shared several recipes, all of them absolutely delicious. Among which was this simple & fun to make Apple Strudel. It has only those four ingredients, making it a perfect treat for Rosh Hashana. I’m including a pdf of the recipe so you can make one at home.

The photo is from our Challah Club event. If you do make it, we’d love to see your results.
