About Us
Formed in 1967, Congregation Shaar Hashalom (CSH) is a Conservative synagogue serving the southeast area of Houston, including Clear Lake, El Lago, Seabrook, Kemah, Taylor Lake Village, Friendswood, Pearland, Pasadena, League City, and Dickinson.
We are a member of the United Synagogues of Conservative Judaism. Both men and women are welcome to participate equally in our Shabbat and Holiday services and to serve on our Board of Directors.
We are dedicated to strengthening our member families through education, worship, and fellowship. Our uniqueness lies in our ability to meet the needs of our members and families while continuing the closeness of our Jewish community. Our primary goal is to support and strengthen our Jewish identity along with continuing the growth of our vibrant Jewish way of life for those in the Clear Lake community.
Our synagogue is our place to meet, study, learn, and discuss all aspects and topics related to Judaism and the Jewish community. We operate a religious school to educate our children and support youth groups affiliated with regional/national organizations. Our members participate in adult education classes and programs, support active Sisterhood and Men's Club, and participate in community service activities.
Rabbi Eitan Krul is our current spiritual leader who has taken over for Rabbi Emeritus Stuart Federow who served as our rabbi for the prior 28 years.
