Tisha B'Av Service
Wednesday, July 29, 2020 • 8 Av 5780
8:00 PM - 10:00 PMOnline - GoToMeetingTisha B’Av, the 9th day of the month of Av commemorates sad moments in Jewish history: the destruction of both Temples in Jerusalem (587 BCE, 70), expulsions from England (1290), France (1306), and Spain (1492), and other tragic occurrences.
It is a traditional fast day that runs this year from Wednesday, July 29, 8:16 PM to Thursday, July 30, 8:42 PM. The tradition is also to sit barefoot on the floor or on low chairs and read Lamentations by candlelight or flashlight.
This year, we will mark Tisha B’Av observance July 29 from 8-10 PM.

We will try to share the full text on-line, but it may be easier if you can queue it on a device or find it in Ketuvim (Writings) section of your Tanach (Bible). (The text version doesn’t matter.) We invite you join us and participate in reading sections of the English text.
In addition, Sharon Rosenthal will chant some of the haunting traditional melody.
