Social Action

We are still doing Social Action events and have now formed the Greater Clear Lake Interfaith Community Council to help us learn more about ourselves and our various faith communities. This Interfaith Council is an extension of Social Action/Social Justice that came out of our need to learn more about ourselves and our diverse faith communities, where we can support each other as a united front against the anti-Semitism, prejudice, and injustices that seems prevalent these days. We plan to learn more about each other, our faiths, and our traditions as we work together for a better community.

The first major community interfaith event will be on Sunday afternoon, November 10th, at “A Celebration of the Golden Rule.” This event will be a lively discussion from our various faith communities on how we each live out our daily lives according to this universal direction found in most of our religious traditions. Learn how we are different, yet the same in the many ways we live our lives. Join us on November 10th, to participate and/or to learn more about each other; there will be foods, music, and an interactive discussion group. Help us plan ideas for future events; we can learn so much from each other!!

Most importantly, each community group will be asked to set up booths showing their many diverse traditions. As we are only a few months into the formation of this community group effort, we welcome future participants and ideas. As of now, this community group includes CSH, TBT, CL Islamic Center, Webster Presbyterian Church, Bay Area Unitarian Universalist Church, Buddhist Community, Unity Bay Area, and a Muslim mosque.

I am also looking for CSH adult and youth group volunteers to help serve an ice cream social for the residences of Hope Village.

We are all in this community together! Please contact me for any questions, interests for both our CSH Ice Cream Social for Hope Village and this newly formed Interfaith Community.
