Ritual Committee News

The Ritual Committee wants to thank all of you who came out for the morning Shiva service for Cantor Eisenberg. We had 20 congregants led by Cantor Eisenberg. Our synagogue always helps the bereaved with evening Shiva at their homes when requested. Normally we would have arranged for an evening Shiva on Thursday evening, but Cantor Eisenberg’s flight didn’t arrive until 6:35 PM, which made it not feasible to arrange an evening service. Thus since Friday morning counts as the same day as Thursday night in the Jewish calendar, we arranged this morning service. This just reconfirmed Cantor Eisenberg’s impression of our congregation as warm, caring, and friendly.

Rosh Hashanah services were very well attended. Even the second day of Rosh Hashanah had a nice count for a second day. Many congregants came out for Tashlich at Nassau Bay Park as well. The cantor, rabbi, and shofar blowers were inspiring. The cantor chanted beautifully, the rabbi gave an inspiring speech, and the 6 shofar blowers in unison touched our hearts. We also want to thank all those who accepted honors. I want to extend a special thank you to Nurit and Sharon for chanting the Torah and Haftarah so beautifully. The cantor will be staying through Oct 11 when he flies back home. If you want to have lunch or dinner with him, contact Cheryl Sigel at cherylsigel@gmail.com. We hope to see all of you at Kol Nidre on Oct 8 at 6:45 PM and Yom Kippur at 9 am on Oct 9. There will be the Break-the-fast around 7:22 PM so please contact Ida Diamond if you haven’t told her what you are bringing.

There is a correction on your High Holy Day tickets. The last 2 entries should be for Oct 21, thus Shemini Atzeret will be Oct 21 at 8 am with a Yizkor service and Simchat Torah will also be Oct 21 at 7 PM.

L’Shana Tova and may you all be written in the Book of Life for a good, healthy, and prosperous year.
