Sisterhood News

The Sisterhood, together with the Religious school, sponsored the Family Potluck and Hanukkiah lighting prior to the service on Friday, December 27.

January is customarily Sisterhood-led Shabbat services all over the nation. On the weekend of January 17-18, under the leadership of Sharon Rosenthal, the Sisterhood conducted both services. Jodi Jacklin, the region Spring Conference Chair attended the Friday service and told us about the conference (see below). Hearty thanks to Sharon Rosenthal and Debbie Anderson who organized the Shabbat, and to everyone who participated. Yishar Ko’ach!

And looking forward:

We will have our Dress for Success and High Tea on Sunday, February 9th, 9:30-Noon. Please donate slightly worn, “interview appropriate” women’s clothing - suits, skirts, pants, blouses and accessories to the synagogue during the month of February.

Dress for Success Houston is an affiliate of the not-for-profit worldwide organization that provides interview appropriate apparel as well as support services for low income women seeking employment.

CSH Purim celebration will take place very early this year – the carnival is scheduled for February 23. Consequently, Purim bags order, preparation and distribution are early.

Order: Please order now. Send / put your order to / at the synagogue (Sisterhood slot in the outer office if you bring it in person), or send to Nurit Mittlefehldt, 16251 Brookford Dr., Houston, TX 77059 (832.725.5028, if you have any question).

Preparation: Wednesday, February 19, 6:30 p.m. at the synagogue. Please come and help.

Distribution: All Purim Bags will be available for pick up during Shabbat services (Fridays and Saturdays February 21, 22, 28, 29 and March 6, 7), during the Purim Carnival (Sunday, February 23), during Sunday School (March 1) and during the Megillah reading (Monday, March 9). Bags not picked up during these dates, will be available at the synagogue office (10:00 – 2:00 M-F) until Friday, March 27th.

Heads up:

As we’ve mentioned in previous occasions, the next Women’s League Spring Conference will be here, in our own neck of the wood. How exciting! The Sisterhood would like members to attend this interesting, informative conference, and it (the Sisterhood) has funds set aside to help defray members’ expenses. Additionally, we will need volunteers to bake and bring snacks for the Hospitality Room during the conference, and maybe for some driving out-of-town attendees to events outside the main conference place.

More details to come later – stay tuned.
